Pincushion cactus
This is a true desert cactus and needs a cold, bone-dry winter rest to thrive and flower — the opposite regime to the epiphytic forest cactus Schlumbergera already in this KB, which must never dry out completely and needs a dark (not dry) rest instead. Don't apply one genus's routine to the other.
Care
Needs as much direct sun as possible, ideally a south-facing windowsill — insufficient light is a common cause of a cactus never flowering.
Water thoroughly then allow the compost to dry out completely before watering again; keep almost completely dry through winter.

A high-potash cactus feed once a month through the summer growing season only. The dry, unfed winter rest is not neglect — it is what produces the ring of flowers in spring, and a cactus kept warm, watered and fed all winter simply will not flower.
Offsets pulled away from the parent with tongs or folded paper, left to callus for several days, then set on dry gritty compost and not watered for a week. Seed works too but takes years.
