Pinching & stopping

How to do it

1. 1Pinch out the soft growing tip of a young plant (between finger and thumb, or with scissors) to encourage side shoots lower down.
2. 2Use on bushy bedding plants, chrysanthemums and fuchsias early in the growing season for a fuller shape.
3. 3Repeat once or twice more on vigorous plants for an even bushier result, stopping in time to let flower buds form before the season ends.
4. 4Don't pinch spike-flowering plants that bloom from a single main stem (e.g. delphiniums), where pinching would remove the main flower.
